Safety Technician

unWired is searching for an integrous Safety Technician to join our Operations team. Reporting to the HSE Manager, this position is responsible for ensuring implementation of, and adherence to, safety policies and procedures, as well as regulatory compliance mandated by local, state, and federal agencies. This position is also responsible for completing and maintaining accident reports as necessary and conducting safety training and inspections.

Essential Duties:

  • • Research and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations as they apply to workplace safety.
  • • Inspect work areas and equipment to ensure compliance, including documenting safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures and recommending corrective procedures.
  • • Maintain safety equipment supply and availability by conducting audits and inspection of PPE.
  • • Advise field leaders regarding safety protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of employees.
  • • Perform periodic scheduled and unscheduled field and facility inspections of all operations and fleet to verify compliance with all regulations and company policy.
  • • Verify that rigging and JSA Inspections are completed as required by all employees to comply with company inspection requirements.
  • • Ensure proper employee training and certifications are completed and maintained prior to operation of safety-sensitive company equipment.
  • • Conduct accident investigations by completing documentation and identifying coaching opportunities, including performing retraining and corrective counseling following an accident or injury.
  • • Expand technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and attending relevant training sessions.
  • • Monitor all operations and jobsites for compliance with industry-specific regulations and company safety policies.
  • • Maintain current knowledgebase to provide initial and refresher training to employees on company policies, industry mandated training (Hazcom, CPR etc.) and company-specific training.
  • • Conduct USA 811 markings at customer sites and complete necessary documentation.

  • • Ensure a safe, healthy work environment by following all safety, health and environmental policies, procedures and regulations per the Company’s IIPP, job safe practices and other related programs.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • • High School Diploma, or equivalent language and mathematical skills.
  • • Experience in the construction or safety related field, preferred.
  • • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the telecommunications field.
  • • Ability to conduct effective trainings sessions in a group and one on one.
  • • Experience with Salesforce or other CRMs preferred.
  • • Must be highly organized with demonstrated ability to multitask.
  • • Ability to interpret and apply complex technical information
