Keep up with device updates
It can be tempting to ignore those pesky update notifications that you pop up on your computer, phone, tablet, gaming console or TV, but ignoring them could be slowing down your Internet connection. Plus, operating system updates can improve the security and performance of your devices, as well as give you more features!
Run updates and downloads overnight
We highly suggest updating your devices and downloading games on your gaming consoles only at night. These activities can take up a lot of bandwidth, causing your connection to be drastically slower than usual. Running updates and downloads at night when no one is using the Internet will ensure that your Internet does not slow down in the middle of the day. Check your devices to see if there is a setting to schedule updates and downloads, so you don’t even have to think about it!
Prioritize usage
The more activity that takes place on the Internet connection, the less speed and bandwidth will be available. Streaming movies, video calls and downloads can be bandwidth-intensive, which can cause buffering or slower speeds for others on the network. If you are experiencing Internet issues, it might be that your bandwidth is taken up by other devices in your house connected to your Internet. During times when you are experiencing buffering or slower than usual speeds, prioritize which devices are using your Internet connection.
