Desktop Support Technician
unWired Broadband, a Fresno-based and privately-held Wireless Internet Service Provider is continuing to see significant growth and is seeking an Desktop Support Technician. Reporting to the Architecture and Information Systems Manager, this position is responsible providing technical support for all unWired employees by monitoring and maintaining the computer systems and phone networks for the company. This includes; installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware and software faults and solving technical and application problems. Deberes esenciales:
- • Manage user accounts, computers, group policy, shared drive access permissions, and proper
structure of organizational units. Reset passwords, create new users, create and develop group
policy to assign to OUs. - • Manage all RFID badges for employees, Colocation customers and vendors. This includes adding personal, badges, organizations, and assigning profiles to badges. Observe for any malfunctioning alarm panels, badge swipes or system failures.
- • Manage and maintain active directory users’ permissions and passwords database for the network.
- • Maintain and control the email system for the company.
- • Purchase and configure all new hardware for new employees. Purchase internal hardware for machines including, RAM, drives and graphic cards. Purchase computer peripherals such as mice, keyboards, headsets, and UPSs.
- • Provide desktop support this includes monitor, repair, and upgrade all company-owned laptops and desktops.
- • Install agent and endpoint security on all company-owned devices including laptops, desktops and mobile phones for office employees. This includes the observation of all critical events, checks, and services on all devices.
- • Work with our hosting provider to set up email accounts, distribution lists, Active Sync, Office 365 applications, AnyMeeting, and desk phones.
- • Manage all company-owned mobile phones this includes IOS and Android devices. Assign Google accounts or Apple IDs to all employees, document the information, and monitor data utilization. Send broken phones in for repair through Apple.
- • Configure new ports on existing switches for new employees. Coordinate or run new CAT5 cable for new workstations and desktop phones. Work with senior engineers to ensure new users are added to the firewall.
- • Setup and troubleshooting of Intermedia VoiP phones and the system.

Supportive Duties and Responsibilities:
- • Maintain a current list of licenses and direct management with regard to the proper level of
licensing required to be compliant; ensuring the renewal of licenses as they come due and allow UWBB to project costs on subscription-based licenses. - • Research and report on technologies that provide efficiencies and cost-effective use of existing resources.
- • Maintain all accounts that have been sold the re-seller version of any Intermedia services; ShareSync/SecuriSync, Hosted Exchange, Backup, etc.
Skills and Qualifications:
- • Degree in IT or related field with 5+ years’ experience, preferably in a communications service provider environment.
- • Experience with Microsoft Products, Networking and Operating Systems required.
- • Ability to interpret and apply complex technical information.
- • Knowledge of Microsoft Server Active Directory and Group Policies.
- • Knowledge of Ethernet Switching required; VLAN’s, VLAN tagging, MPLS, OSPF, BGP switching and routing protocols is a plus.
- • Knowledge of network security and communications networks; and knowledge of technical and user-related aspects of a personal computer environment.
- • Communication skills both written and orally.
- • Preferred bilingual: Spanish and English.
